Fantastic experience: Receptionist very welcoming and very helpful. Physiotherapist provided a sports massage to help treat a surgical scar on both legs after a cardiac procedure. The staff member was very professional, by going through my medical history and then providing the necessary treatment to help aid in the recovery of the area been treated. At all times the physiotherapist excelled in her duty of care and provided an excellent source of information regarding self care for my scar tissue. The staff member is a credit to the profession and i would recommend Spear for peoples Physiotherapy needs. Excellent service.

Fantastic experience: I was amazingly able to get an initial appointment the day after I put out my back which was a great blessing as it meant I was immediately encouraged to mobilise and keep active; otherwise I fear I might have felt I had to " protect " my back and set myself back further. Alvin gave me easy to remember and apply graduated exercise and deep massage which had me noticeably recovered in 3 weeks and confident to get back into gym and then after a couple of weeks of self directed exercise back to the classes I love and back with my gym pals. Alvin is a star. Reception staff are particularly pleasant and friendly and the treatment spaces are well equipped with the gym on hand to try out routines or particular exercise machines. At over 70 it would be easy to say " my body is telling me to slow down". I'm so glad high quality physio has allowed me to keep active and continue to set appropriate goals and exercise ambitions. I am so grateful for Spears excellent service and to Alvin in particular.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Karen who I’ve been to for a number of issues over the years. The first was my neck which was in a really bad way. I’d been to 4 different people about it previously and was a complete waste of time and money. Karen understood exactly what was needed and within a few sessions I was completely sorted. More recently with my back, which again, I’m now pain free. If you want someone who actually gets hands on and works into muscles, sometimes quite painfully but in a good way, look no further! I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: Stefan listened well as to what happened and my lifestyle, explained what happened with the strain, and how it will improve over the weeks with time and exercises and stretches. Gave graded exercises and stretches which improved flexibility and strengthened my calf muscles and I’m now back doing my activities

Recently I took my 10 year old son to see him who run competitively, he was very good with him as my son was nervous about going. He gave him simple exercises which he can follow to help him build the strength he needs to stay injury free as he grows . Highly recommend James and the Spears Clinic.

Negative experience: Ive paid up to £200 for very shot term and ineffective solutions. Ive been working with asv spear for up to two years now trying to fix my problem, but nothing seems to be working. I guess this place is fine if your old and have small problems or those reurning from severe injury. But it seems they dont have the expertise at all to deal with specific problems. You could probably just reasearch online and do the stuff yourself if you wanted and save some money. PS. I have a hamstring problem and i just got the average advice and not any big improvements.

Fantastic experience: Came to alvin with a persistent shoulder issue that had lasted months after one appointment and some changes to my workiut plan and some strength exercises added, within a month my shoulder had healed. Alvin was great would defo recommend

Fantastic experience: Sarah at SPEAR helped me greatly with a knee issue. She clearly explained the root causes, advised that I was fine to keep running through the treatment and talked me through some simple exercises to help manage the issue. This allowed me to keep training for, and complete, the marathon I was working towards. I would happily use SPEAR again.

Positive experience: I went to SPEAR with two issues - back pain and a shoulder strain. In both cases the recommended exercises elevated the pain. The should pain has gone away. The back pain remains although the exercises do make it more manageable when it is at its worst, first thing in the morning. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the help and advice given - good job!

Fantastic experience: James @ Spear has been an incredible and knowledgeable physiotherapist for rehabilitation following surgery after a sports injury. My rate of recovery has been impressive and I am beyond thankful for how functional I currently am given our tight deadline. Fantastic experience: I recently developed a shoulder issue and booked in to see Alvin here at SPEAR Physiotherapy and he was brilliant! Within a few minutes he had diagnosed my issue and gave me exercises to help fix the problem. Having followed these my shoulder improved to the point where I have no more issues completing my regular exercise routine. I fully recommend anyone to go to Alvin with any problems they may be experiencing as I have full confidence in his abilities.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Spear highly enough! After developing a sudden knee injury I was able to get an appointment the next day and from then on I have been supported ever since. With the help of Mannat Bhullar I have gone from not being able to walk to back cycling pain free again. She has put an incredible amount of effort into sessions and my exercise plan to ensure they are tailored to me and the stage I am at in rehab. I will continue to work with Mannat to gain further strength and to prevent further injuries occurring. 10/10

Fantastic experience: Spear has been invaluable in maintaining and improving strength and mobility for my husband after a stroke 10years ago. Weekly sessions allow for close monitoring of any improvements and building on them steadily, assisting with confidence and determination to improve.

A progressive programme of pilates exercises prescribed by Rachel during a series of consultations has been very successful in building up my core strength, resulting in virtually no pain and giving me the freedom and confidence to enjoy life more fully. Fantastic experience: Excellent physio service delivered in several clinics around Aberdeen. When I developed a sudden ankle issue over the weekend I was able to book myself in to be seen on Monday morning for advice and treatment. Alvin was superb, initially treating me with acupuncture and advising on rehab exercises, and subsequent review and sports massage.

Fantastic experience: Mere weeks before my first marathon I injured my foot following a long run. I had been recommended SPEAR physiotherapy by a friend and specifically Connor Hamilton. I was initially able to book an appointment within a couple days of inquiring and during this first session Connor was quickly able to pin-point the cause of my discomfort and how it could be prevented going forward. In this first session he was also able to work on the muscles to help relive some of the pain and provided me with exercises to complete, also setting out a recommended training program to follow until our next session. By the following session I had already felt the improvements in my foot and Connors reassessment of it confirmed this. During this session Connor also took me out onto the ASV athletics track where he observed my running style and was able to suggest some refinements. Ultimately I was able to complete my marathon the week following this session - something that may not have been possible without Connors help.

Fantastic experience: I was in the early stages of recovering from a total knee replacement when I decided to go to SPEAR Physiotherapy to help me recover. My physiotherapist was Aimee Clark and over the 6 month period ( approximately )that she helped me I cannot speak highly enough of her. The selection and variation of exercises and encouragement that she gave me was of immense help in getting me to the stage that I am at now. From the first visit to the last she was always interested in my progress and any discomfort that I was encountering was overcome with a new exercise which pinpointed and strengthened that area. She showed me how to do each exercise slowly and sent me short videos that I could refer back to and coupled with her positive attitude this allowed me to make good progress throughout my rehab. I am now back golfing (18 holes ) 3 times a week and 7 / 8 mile country walks regularly which is great. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Spear Physiotherapy and in particular Aimee Clark. Thank you very much.

Fantastic experience: Developed a knee niggle a few weeks before Kirkhill ultra race. Virginie was super helpful and the exercises and recovery plan she provided got me to the start (and finish!) line. Being a runner herself Virginie fully understood my motivations to keep moving and built this into my plan - it worked a treat, thank you Virginie!

Fantastic experience: I had a session with Connor today after having suffered with excruciating back pain for 4 days. Connor’s manner was superb - compassionate, understanding and made me feel at ease. He was able to assess my physical challenges quickly and immediately helped the problem with deep tissue massage. I was then talked through the underlying problems in a way that made me fully understand. He also walked me through exercises to continue working on at home with steps to extend this as well. I was able to walk out with vastly improved mobility and hugely reduced pain. Highly recommend his service.

Fantastic experience: After some lengthy issues with my Achilles, I went in to see James. James had me back running high mileage again in no time. He didn’t just give me exercises and send me home, he helped me understand the injury and to prevent it moving forward. I couldn’t recommend James enough. I just wish I went in to see him sooner!

Doctors just bothered prescribing plenty of painkillers instead of finding the root cause, I was trying a chiropractor treatment/therapy before but I wasn’t improving with my condition. But I can recommend physiotherapy, it really does help. I had messages as well as exercise recommendations tailored to my needs. SPEAR has a professional team, including Leanne Reid who was the one treating me and did a fabulous job. She had great knowledge and a fantastic approach towards the customer. Thank you.

Within 15 minutes we had identified the most likely cause(s) of the problem started working on fixing it. A week later and I am pain free and setting new records with no issues Overall the experience was very positive. Connor demonstrated a clear level of understanding of biomechanics and a great level of personability. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: I needed intensive physio to rehabilitate following an extended hospital stay and reduced mobility with a neurological condition – I worked with a number of physios at SPEAR who have all been fantastic. I spent most time with Iona Proud who is a very knowledgeable and approachable neuro-physio; her targeted and effective treatment has been instrumental in my strong recovery. I also enjoyed working with Connor Hamilton who collaborated very well with Iona to tailor my rehab exercise programme. They helped me target the right level of activity, particularly when I was getting ahead of myself. I also enjoyed and benefited from neuro-pilates classes with Lynn Wilson and Sarah Hounsome. The combination of approaches from the SPEAR team was really excellent and just what I needed - I made much more effective progress with them compared to my time in a rehabilitation hospital in London. Aberdeen, I hope you appreciate what you have here!

Fantastic experience: I booked running MOT with James in the build up to London marathon. Having never done much running in the past and with only 7 weeks to go I wasn’t sure what to expect. James was great, put me at ease straight away and was very supportive. It was super helpful identifying areas to focus on in the build-up to the marathon, gave me strength exercises and had a further check in with him at just over a week out measuring improvement in the key areas which was great! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend even if like myself and don’t have any level of running experience! (Managed to run the marathon too - thanks James!)

Fantastic experience: Had a calf tear from a sports injury (volleyball) , went to see James at SPEAR, highly recommend, he assessed and gave me an exercise program to get back on the court and avoid reinjury. After 2 sessions we both felt comfortable enough to be released back to fill activity in moderation. Again highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Having injured my ankle a few years ago playing football the physio on offer from the NHS was basic and they did what they had to do to get me moving again but I wanted to do more and that's when I turned to Spear. Spear helped me get back to a much more active level - playing football, squash, swimming, gym etc. They offered a truly excellent service but make sure you go in knowing what you want to achieve as only then can they offer the right treatment and exercises to aid you in your goals. A few years later Spear went above and beyond to help me out with an insurance claim by reprinting my old receipts with information my insurer required. Can't recommend them enough.

Fantastic experience: I've used Spear on a number of occasions now. Last year they got me back up and running following an injury. Most recently, I picked up an injury a month before taking on Glenmore 24. They helped me get back up and running and were excellent in the help and advice. Wouldn't have managed without them and Aberdeen Sports Massage.
