Fantastic experience: I went to Andy for urgent treatment as I was not able to walk properly with a sore knee. Andy was able to give an assesment of my knee problem and diagnosed a problem with the cartilage and gave me exercises to alleviate the pain and do at home. Excellent service from Andy and cannot recommend him enough.

Fantastic experience: After a full knee replacement in September I was becoming very disillusioned with my progress on my knee flexion despite doing all the prescribed exercises .I had a few appointments with Andy and even after my first appointment my knee flexion began to improve after he gave me a few different exercises to try . I came away from my first appointment feeling a lot happier and also a lot more knowledgeable about why I was unable to get the flexion on my knee . I would definitely recommend Andy for Physiotherapy as he is very knowledgeable, very pleasant and very patient.

Fantastic experience: I visited Andy on 23.12.24 for a hyaluronic injections into my knee. Andy immediately put me at my ease, explaining how he would do the procedure. Fantastic experience: I have visited Atkinson physiotherapy over the past year for both sports massage sessions as well as physiotherapy for an injury. On every occasion Andy has always being extremely friendly and professional and you can see he has a vast knowledge on all things rehab. He has massively helped me with my recovery and I highly recommend his services.

Fantastic experience: Went to see Andy with an achilles issue i had been having trouble with over several months and i am so please i made this decision. Andy was extremely knowledgable and could tell me exactly what i had been suffering with for those months. Not only this but Andy is a very professional and very polite person making it even easier when getting the issue across. After finding out the issue Andy set me of on stretches and correct movements to help strengthen my achilles. After every session i would be sent an overview of the session and a plan which was easy to follow which also came with links to help with the several stretches. After these i attended sessions regularly for check ups to monitor my progress and i have only seen positive reactions. I can not recommend him highly enough and i am pleased this is the service i came to for my achilles problem.

Fantastic experience: After injuring my knee from running, I went to both the doctors and a sport masseuse and neither helped the issue at all! If anything I feel they made me more confused and still in pain. Andy was both professional and friendly and took the time to explain everything in depth and help me understand what was actually wrong. His advice was settling and helpful. Improvement with my knee was exactly how he explained and now I am back on my feet and on the mend. I would certainly recommend his services.

Fantastic experience: Went to see Andy with back problem. He was very professional, extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and immediately put me at ease. Having assessed the problem and examined me he then gave me exercises to do to help improve my situation. After time spent with Andy I felt a lot better and more confident to pursue the exercises and advice he gave me. I also received a comprehensive list of exercises to carry out at home. Fantastic experience: Went to see Andy with a long-standing Achillies Tendon problem that had stopped me running and was even making walking difficult and painful. About 10 weeks after first seeing Andy I’ve just done a 21-mile pain free run, in preparation for a 34-mile ultra marathon in July, which I now have every confidence in finishing. After a full assessment Andy got me on a progressive strength programme and weekly shock wave and hands on massage therapy. Andy also took a very holistic approach and we spoke in detail about the importance of overall wellbeing, such as sleep, diet and stress etc. Can’t speak highly enough about Andy and the treatment and level of service he provides. You realise how important certain things are when you can’t actually do them and Andy got me back to what I love, which I had serious concerns would never happen. Thanks so much Andy!

Andy has been tremendous on each of my visits, taking time to understand my issue, followed by a thorough indepth investigation, assessment and rehabilitation programme to solve the problem. Both occasions I've been back to my best soon after. Responds quickly to any questions you have during your rehab. Knowledgeable, friendly and most of all gets results for you. Fantastic experience: Andy is one of the most lovely physiotherapists I have met. He spent time listening to my list of ailments, not putting any pressure on me to access anything. He spent time assessing me fully and providing explanation to a level which I was able to understand. I opted for a cortisone injection and Andy did everything he could to access this ASAP for me, and providing a calming environment for administration (I don’t like needles). Fantastic experience: Great First visit to Atkinson Physiotherapy, Andy was very professional and explained everything he was doing.I’m a runner so I was expecting the Physio to be painful as I have experienced this in the past but Andy was firm but not brutal. Fantastic experience: Andy is a first class physio. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I staggered into his office, almost doubled up, with my very painful hip & back. An hour later i walked out straight . Result! I've been back on a regular basis for 'maintenance' work. Andy has done a lot of work for the British Army as well as for well known football clubs.

Fantastic experience: I went to see Andy about a shoulder that had stiffened over the previous year. I had previously been seen by physio at my gp practise but it hadn’t improved. Mobility in the shoulder was extremely limited and was affecting day to day life . Andy was amazing. He explained things clearly, gave tailored exercises to my needs and got mobility in my shoulder that I never believed possible. He was professional throughout . I would definitely recommend .

Fantastic experience: I had a shoulder issues for quite a while. Couple of months ago I couldn't move my arm without crying with pain. That is when I've got in contact with Atkinson Physiotherapy. What a difference few weeks has made. With some hard work shoulder pain has been decreased and all thanks to Andy who patiently worked on my shoulder and showed me the homework exercises. Fantastic experience: When I was treated by Andy I was in agony. After he had triaged me he soon found the problem and over a short period of treatment sorted me out. He also gave me an exercise regime to carry out for the future to prevent my issue coming back. I cannot recommend him high enough. I found him to be friendly and extremely professional.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic therapist. My husband spent 8 and a half months in itu and was wheelchair bound on discharge. 3 sessions per week in our home and my husband is now practically fully mobile. Andys skill,knowledge of rehabilitation , professionalism and personality has been paramount in my husbands recovery. As an ex itu nurse and ex rehab centre manager for patients with head and spinal injuries I cannot recommend Andy enough he has definitely given my husband his independence back and me my husband back.

Fantastic experience: My daughter dislocated her knee at the start of the March 2020 lockdown and we were unable to get any NHS physiotherapy support due to Covid. We came across Andy and he kindly helped her over zoom until he was able to see her face to face. Andy is very professional, very knowledgeable and very good with people, and sensitive to their individual needs. My daughters knee dislocation has become a recurrent problem, so she has continued to see Andy, while she awaits surgery, he always helps her get back on track as quickly as possible. Also, my son is a keen football player, and he has also seen Andy regularly, his physio sessions have helped him build up strength and stamina. I am so pleased we found Andy, he has helped us so much, I can highly recommend his services for both sports physiotherapy or more general health physiotherapy.

Fantastic experience: My son Josh is 10 years old, he’s obsessed with Football. After playing a football match, he was suffering from pain around his heel and ankle. We took him to A&E and they diagnosed ankle ligament damage. After 2 weeks, the pain was no better and he could barely walk on it. Andy had a look at Josh and diagnosed Severs Disease, he told Josh it was common in young footballers during growth spurts and lots of young players had suffered with Severs Disease during his time at Sunderland Football Club. He told him to rest and gave him lots of stretching exercises. Severs disease was later confirmed by a Consultant at Sunderland Hospital. Josh was back playing Football after 4 weeks out thanks to Andy.

Fantastic experience: After having a few issues with my back and having mri results from the doctor who recommended physio. I had my first session with Andy, what can I say he made me feel completely at ease and he definitely knows his stuff. I went in so worried about my results and once Andy had explained them properly I felt loads better, I will definitely be back.. Couldn't recommend him enough
