Fantastic experience: I’ve had an excellent experience with them and would highly recommend their services. From the start, Tay provided outstanding care and clearly explained the treatment plan step by step, so I always understood what we were working towards. Tay was knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly supportive. He consistently motivated me, helped build my confidence during recovery, and provided reassurance whenever I had concerns — which made a big difference during the more challenging moments. Communication throughout was excellent, with clear guidance and regular progress checks. I felt supported both physically and mentally, and I’m extremely happy with the care I received.

Fantastic experience: Just had my assessment and first lot of physio with Josh. I feel that I have made more progress with my sciatica and back problems in that one visit, than I have made with 1 visit to the hospital and 2 visits to my doctor! I have an exercise program to follow and am looking forward to the next appointment. Would highly recommend !

Fantastic experience: The physios at Carter & George have really aided me in supporting me through a challenging recovery period. When I first met my physio, Tay, I wasn't only struggling physically but also mentally. Tay helped me overcome these physical and mental battles and has got me back on my feet, fit and ready to continue my love for sport. Without the support from sessions as well as additional support I, myself as a 17yr old, wouldn't have been able to overcome my struggles and I owe all my love and support to the staff here.

Fantastic experience: Aby was wonderful, I booked a Mummy MOT Assessment 7w post natal. Aby was very thorough and professional. I booked the appointment online which was easy to do too.

Fantastic experience: I was referred by a Podiatrist & required urgent shockwave treatment for mid portion Achilles tendonopathy. I was seen within 3 days &:had a beneficial first treatment with a very helpful Physiotherapist. She gave me some exercises & dates for 3 more weekly sessions, which I am hopeful will cure the nerve pain shooting up to my knee.

Fantastic experience: Sophie Pyle is a super star! Very knowledgeable and puts me at ease every session. She really is a miracle worker, always gets me back to feeling myself again. I think the best one was 2 days notice for a knotted muscle before my wedding and I needed to be able to walk down the aisle and not limp! She really is a credit to the practise!!

Fantastic experience: Excellent physiotherapy, advice and encouragement from Natalie in Amersham. As a result of a footballing accident I tore my quadriceps muscle in one leg in June 2024. Surgery was not needed but physio was. Walking was difficult and ascending stairs was virtually impossible. Thanks to Natalie’s hands on assessments and diagnostics, exercise advice and encouragement I made steady progress. Walking initially, then running short distances culminating in reaching my target of running 10km once a week within 6 months. Thank you Natalie, thoroughly professional and very patient.

Fantastic experience: Review for Dr Dionisio Izquierdo: I recently had the pleasure of being treated by Dr Izquierdo, and I can genuinely say it was one of the most positive experiences I’ve ever had with a doctor. He was calm, professional, and above all, incredibly caring. I felt truly listened to—every concern I raised was taken seriously and treated with care. Unlike many others who dismissed my back pain as " a common issue", Dr Izquierdo went further by conducting a thorough investigation and, most importantly, clearly explaining everything to me in a calm and patient manner. I asked several questions, and not once did I feel rushed or overlooked. His dedication and empathy made a real difference to my experience.

Sophie has got me walking and standing better than I have in years - she’s been caring, thoughtful and professional the whole way through. She listens to what I say and if something isn’t working as expected then she thinks and amends/changes it. I cannot recommend Sophie/Carter & George highly enough

Fantastic experience: I have been receiving treatment recently for a sore tendon . Sonia is absolutely brilliant. It’s a painful shockwave procedure but she always makes it bearable just by her calm attitude and friendly approach. The massage for both calf muscles because of the compensation in limping has really helped as well. She’s been fantastic. A really gifted practitioner. I can feel the improvement after each session. I can’t recommend her highly enough .

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic. I have seen Sophie Pyle for physio on both my hip and shoulder, and Ryan for gym training for shoulder rehabilitation. Along with being approachable, fresh, fun and friendly, both are consummate professionals. They are highly qualified and greatly experienced. I have also been treated by Mr Craig Rosenbloom and had a steroid injection in my shoulder in the practise. Again, effective, professional and kind. Both the physio and gym equipment are of high quality and definitely up to the task. I appreciate the fact that the practise is a single venue offering several different treatment options and that I really do feel I'm receiving the sort of treatment a professional sportsman would, at a very reasonable cost. Finally, the practise is centrally located, very easy to access by both road and rail and with a multi-storey parking garage less that a 5 minute walk away. There is also parking directly outside. I do not hesitate to recommend Carter and George in general, and Sophie and her team at the Hertford branch in particular.

Negative experience: Due to ongoing pain, discomfort, and restricted movement in my arm, I sought prompt medical assistance as I didn’t want to wait several weeks to see my GP. Consequently, I spent £90 to consult a private GP earlier in the week. After conducting various tests, she diagnosed a facet injury and recommended that I undergo a scan and seek further treatment from local physiotherapist Carter and George. I scheduled an appointment with the physiotherapist, which included a scan costing approximately £130-£150. Based on positive reviews of the practice, I had high expectations for receiving a precise diagnosis and potential treatment to alleviate my symptoms. However, during my visit, the Physiotherapist, dressed informally, questioned the GP's diagnosis, suggesting a lack of expertise on her part. I found this approach to be somewhat unprofessional. This unexpected dismissal of the GP’s advice diminished my confidence in their judgment. Despite the physiotherapist's critique of the GP's diagnosis, I anticipated that he would then provide an accurate assessment. Regrettably, after conducting a brief scan of my arm, Jamie was unable to diagnose the cause of my restricted movement or suggest a subsequent treatment plan. Instead, I was instructed to schedule another appointment for the following week if there was no improvement. As a result; I left the practice feeling both disappointed and somewhat exploited, with some question marks regarding their knowledge and integrity. Despite having invested a considerable amount of money, I did not obtain any definitive diagnosis or treatment. The initial diagnosis made by the GP was completely discredited by the Physiotherapist, who failed to provide an alternative diagnosis. Furthermore, the scan yielded no valuable information, and as a result, no subsequent treatment was provided to alleviate the pain or improve the range of movement in my arm. I initially chose not to write a review and instead opted not to return to that practice. However, since my visit, my partner recently suffered a back injury, potentially a slipped disc, resulting in nerve damage. Unaware of my prior experience, he booked an appointment at the Carter and George Physiotherapist practice. He was met by a different consultant and yet encountered an equally disappointing, if not worse, experience. Physiotherapist Josh demonstrated an inability to diagnose my partner’s condition accurately and left the room several times to seek a second opinion from an unidentified individual who neither entered the room nor examined my partner. The consultant appeared unprofessional, lacking in both expertise and knowledge, and the follow-up correspondence consisted of a brief, uninformative email. My partner has since found another practice that has provided significantly better service, professionalism, and an effective treatment plan. The fact that both of us experienced such a poor level of service suggests this is not an isolated incident. Therefore, I feel compelled to write this review to caution others against spending their hard-earned money at the Carter and George Practice.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Carter and George and seeing Josh for a few months now and couldn’t recommend enough. Older injuries that were temporarily eased in the past have been managed the best they have been here with exercises, shockwave and working out the root cause of them so I got back to sport much sooner than I thought!

Negative experience: Total waste of time. I suffered a serious sports injury and in short i was recommended this physio company. Well total waste of time, each time i went the physio said he needed a second opinion due to his inability do know what was wrong. In short i wasted 2 weeks of potential recovery time, each session just involved checking a few things then suggesting some stretches.. I then went to another physio in Welwyn who was totally different. The level of knowledge, care and sheer professionalism was a different league. I would not recommend Carter & George. 1. Lack of knowledge 2. Cramped treatment rooms 3. Rushed environment 4. Wrong Diagnosis (mine was something far more serious) I am not the first to feel like this, others have also told me how they felt when visiting this firm. You have been warned.

Fantastic experience: Big thanks to Freya who has been helping my recovery after an elbow operation, build back up my strength and get me back riding my bike, with better grip strength than before. I really appreciate the focus on exercises I can do without specialist equipment, and plans built around squeezing physio into busy work days. Friendly, understanding, and super knowledgable.

I have been having physio in some capacity or another for as long as I can remember, with the issues I have never really getting better, just periodically easing. Since seeing Freya it’s the best I’ve felt for years, the range of treatment she has used has been like nothing I’ve experienced before. Fantastic experience: After breaking my wrist in December I booked in with Freya to help my recovery. At the time I had very limited movement and she has helped me to get back up to full mobility and now working on strength! I will be forever grateful for her kindness and expertise in getting me back up and running when the NHS physio let me down so massively. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Carter & George have been a lifesaver to me. I am in my mid 70s and they have not only treated me for a couple of issues with joints etc but also increased my levels of fitness and dexterity. I have received remedial treatment from Freya Wickham on several occasions with excellent results far greater than I had hoped for and while I have to say some of the treatment has been painful she helped me through it with her dry wit and engaging conversation and all the while explaining what she is doing and what to expect. I cannot praise her enough. I also use their personal training facilities and for the last 18 months Ryan Smith has been my PT. Again I cannot give enough praise as Ryan has pushed me to achieve levels of fitness that I thought were now beyond me. While I am not saying I am Olympic standards by any means, for my age I feel I am really doing great. Ryan takes the time to explain what each exercise is aimed at achieving and tailors the session to meet my needs and the conversation is entertaining which is brilliant because it help me through.

Fantastic experience: I managed to completely rupture the ACL ligament in my knee during a skiing accident . Having decided not to have an operation ,Freya put together a programme of exercises for me to follow . I can now play tennis again which is the sport I love the best . She was always so supportive , encouraging and thorough .

Fantastic experience: Carter and George physiotherapists are an amazing team covering all areas of injury and fitness issues. They are friendly and efficient and employ a very good front of house to help you find the most appropriate appointments for you. Freya Wickham is my physio - she is forensic and quickly considers the options and gets to the most likely root cause. Being an old person who still plays sports I get aches and pains and injuries. I have never walked out of a series of treatments with Carter and George without a significant improvement and often experience miraculous results. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Worth every £!

At times it felt like every part of my legs was taking turns to get injured (glutes, Achilles, IT band, knees). Without Sophie’s incredible help and support I don’t think I’d have been standing on that start line in one piece! She made such a difference to my training and confidence. Huge thank you! From day one she was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in my recovery. Thanks to her expertise and dedication, I’m stronger and more confident than I ever thought I’d be after an ACL injury. She went above and beyond to make sure I not only am healing but also regained full functionality. Negative experience: I highly recommend anyone not to go to George & Carter in Hertford. 1 star is too many stars. After the physio was 15 minutes late, I was in for 15 minutes: 5 minutes talking, 5 minutes massage and 5 minutes showing me what exercises to do at home. Nothing new. I've been doing them for the last 3 months already. And after 15 minutes I paid £58. It was supposed to be 30 minutes and not talking as they already have the notes from my first appintment so why do you need to go through the same questions again if you have the notes already?

Update: I recently received treatment from Emma Lee ahead of an Ironman event. Emma did a great job at tailoring the therapy and exercises to my specific injuries and to get me to a point that I could complete the Ironman. I also learnt a lot from our sessions that I'll continue to implement going forward.

Honestly, this practice is like finding the best mechanic for your repairs
