Fantastic experience: I had an assessment with Ryan after being let down in my aftercare following a TKR and following a recommendation by a really happy client. Ryan really knows his stuff! He completed a thorough assessment to gather all the relevant information and then made a plan going forward to help me, giving me focused exercises to work on at home to target specific areas. I now see a glimmer of hope to eventually getting my life and fitness back. The only downside for me with a bad leg was the many stairs to the clinic - I managed thankfully but I know it was mentioned to get in touch if stairs are an issue so bare that in mind. I’ll leave a further review in a few weeks.

He carried out an in depth analysis of my problem prior to the treatment table where he carried out a series of diagnostic tests. He was able to pinpoint precisely where the area of concern was and expertly manipulated the muscle. I would not hesitate to recommend highly !

Fantastic experience: I’ve had a shoulder injury for over a year that’s been holding me back in powerlifting and strongman. Nothing I did seemed to fix it. I started seeing Ryan recently and even after the first session I noticed a big improvement — more mobility and less pain when benching. Still got a bit of work to do, but it’s the first real progress I’ve had in ages. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: After having ACL surgery 2 weeks ago and having a nightmare to try get a physio appointment through the NHS I managed to get straight in to see Ryan who couldn’t of been more helpful if he tried. Really knowledgeable and gave me a full plan to help me get to my goal of full extension and 90 degrees flexion. He showed me all the different exercises I could be doing and advised me of everything I can do to help recover fully. No stone was left unturned I felt and he had a lot of time to make sure if I had any questions then I could ask away. Was debating just having the one session to cover me until I get my first NHS appointment but now may change my mind and book a few more sessions with Ryan as the quality of the physio is far superior to what I have received in the past from the NHS.

Fantastic experience: Emma is phenomenal, a thorough consultation with a clearly knowledgeable and professional physio. Assessed well and listened to my barrage of sometimes conflicting symptoms. Emma decided acupuncture would be a great first step as I respond well. Whilst they were working their magic Emma loosened the knots in my shoulders all whilst maintaining a conversation she was truly interested in. Nearly 4 hours later and I am already feeling the benefits after being laid up for a week with a netball injury. I cannot recommend Emma enough.

My issue is complicated in that it only surfaces after about 60km of ultra running, which of course is pretty difficult to simulate without doing an ultra!

Fantastic experience: I have visited Ryan due to pain in my shoulder. He has asked me a few questions about the nature of injury. Carried out several physical tests. Came up with the diagnosis and gave me instructions how to treat the issue. I was very happy with this outcome, as NHS was just sending me from one place to another and no one was really interested.

He then put together a comprehensive plan of exercises to do with next steps and a follow up appointment in 2 weeks. Having seen a number of physios in the last few years for different symptoms I would now always choose Ryan and 5th element even after only 1 appointment.

Fantastic experience: I saw Ryan for the first time today, he quickly made me feel at ease and was very professional and friendly throughout the appointment. Ryan was very thorough and helped to diagnose an ongoing issue I've had for years that has previously been misdiagnosed by a different physio clinic. Ryan gave me a plan of action to follow and we have a follow up appointment booked in 2 weeks to help me go through some more things that could help me to recover, and see how things are getting on. Definitely getting yourself to 5th element for any kind of physio or sports injury.

Fantastic experience: I called in today to see Ryan about a persistent shoulder problem. After a thorough examination he explained what the issues might be and worked with me to devise a strategy to manage and rehabilitate the arm. All in all it was a valuable visit that was handled very professionally and in extreme detail. He certainly knows his stuff...well worth a call if you have any problems.

Fantastic experience: Ryan was courteous and informative about the clinic and his colleagues. I booked an appointment with Emma. She was very thorough in her examination, clear in her explanations, and apparently very knowledgeable. She reviewed my current physiotherapy regime and suggested some supplementary exercises that seem very reasonable to me. I learned a lot and useful stuff. I am going back, while hoping for a quick full recovery.

Fantastic experience: I've had a few sessions with Ryan now and after a problematic shoulder for 18 months after a rotator cuff injury, there has finally been a huge improvement. Ryan has given some excellent advice on which exercises to do to improve my shoulder, at home and down the gym, which have really made a difference. I'd recommend Ryan to be your 'go to' physio, as I tried many before!

Fantastic experience: Ryan was very thorough and between both the consultation and assessment, he then carried out a treatment that left me feeling more mobile and ready for proper gym work which I have been able to return to since I saw him. Fantastic experience: Ryan did a really thorough assessment of my injury and provided a diagnosis - explaining it really clearly. The initial rehab plan was extremely comprehensive and specifically focussed on my needs as an athlete, and taking other lifestyle factors into account.

Fantastic experience: This is to all the runners who would rather buy themselves a new pair of super-cushioned shoes instead of addressing their recurring injury (speaking from experience) : do yourself a favour and invest in a good physio instead! And if you're looking for one in Durham or Sunderland, you've come to the right place. Ryan has been extremely helpful on my journey back into running after recurring injuries. I have finally understood why certain problems kept coming back and got clear instructions on how to prevent them in the future. Ryan is very knowledgeable, explains everything in much detail and he made sure that I understood the source and the mechanisms of the injuries that I was experiencing. He suggested appropriate exercises and ways of supporting my recovery, incl. using kinesiology tapes or suggestions on nutrition. I still have a long way to go (consistency isn't my strongest point!) but I feel like sessions with Ryan have given me a very strong foundation for preventing injuries and knowing how to better take care of my feet, shins, knees, posture, etc.

Fantastic experience: I came to Ryan feeling pretty sorry for myself following a knock to my arm playing rugby. He very quickly put me at ease with his obvious knowledge and professionalism. Taking time to fully assess the injury as well as surrounding areas, he was able to provide immediate relief with kinesiology taping while the injury is still acute. I have been given instructions on how to manage the injury over the next few weeks before the next appointment where Ryan has already made me aware of his plan to incorporate lymphatic drainage massage and more movement. It was obvious that Ryan knows his stuff, being able to approach an injury from multiple different angles puts him a mile above other local practitioners. I can’t recommend enough and will be my first point of call for any future niggles!

Ryan was really professional and attentive, he talked me through the different stages of the assessment and explained where the issues lay as he went along. Usually, in these kinds of situations you tend to leave with more questions than answers, but Ryan was great at making sure you had an understanding. Ryan was extremely knowledgeable and thorough with his physical assessment, took his time and was very gentle when necessary. Leaving me with full confidence my issue will be fixed and I will be back to 100% once we reach the end. I’m quite an active person, and always around active people who may suffer from injuries. Fantastic experience: Ryan was super helpful. Came here with Achilles issues from marathon training, he figured out what it was very quickly. Very warm and welcoming, even gave me some chocolate to sooth a rough hangover! Got a great plan ironed out for the next few weeks of recovery, couldn’t have asked for more. Fantastic experience: I injured my back about 30 years ago and when it flares up takes 2-3 months to settle down. I’ve been to many chiropractors / physios over the years. Found Ryan recently and have had 3 sessions with him. He’s knowledgeable and a good practitioner, easy to get on with. I can see light at the end of the tunnel and am confident that I’ll be back to ‘normal’ soon - I’ll not be returning to any chiropractor. Definitely worth considering.
