Fantastic experience: I've been treated by Active Care for 2 years now after being recommended due to a severe lower back pain which was caused by two bulging Discs , the up front consultation was very informative and the treatment given was superb, needless to say I'm no longer suffering, following on from that I have had an ongoing issue with knee pain and have had xrays showing deterioration around the knee joint, I'm told I need a partial knee replacement, however, since having Red Light treatment at Active Care I'm no longer struggling and my quality of life has improved immensely, The staff here are true professionals of their trade and I xant thank them enough for doing what they do .

Fantastic experience: I had 2 courses of Novothor red light therapy over 6 months, during training I was doing for a marathon (my first marathon and highly likely my last!) which was invaluable. It helped with my energy levels and, without doubt, kept niggling injuries at bay. I'm not sure I could have managed the training without it and would recommend it to anyone who was thinking of having red light therapy. Active Care Chiropractic is such a warm and friendly practice, and Nancy, Brenda and Vicky were always on hand in reception for advice and kind words.

Fantastic experience: I almost crawled into Active Care Chiropractic in agony with my neck and back and I had put it down to arthritis but after 1 visit to Harry and his magic hands the pain improved and after 2 further visits I am pain free. I couldn't believe it and I am so grateful to have my life back after thinking I would be stuck in agony forever. Harry proves age is no barrier to chiropractic treatment which actually works, painkillers wouldn't touch it. Fantastic experience: I contacted Active Care after it had been recommended to me as I have struggled for 2 years with knee pain. Doctors were unable to help as unsure of the cause of pain. I emailed the clinic detailing my situation, I received a quick response and it was recommended I go in for a consultation. I have been using the NovoTHOR bed (Red Light Therapy/Photobiomodulation) for the last couple of months at Active Care Chiropractic. I can't recommend the treatment and the service of the staff enough! I will definitely return in the future. The benefits I now have are: - Overall significant decrease in Long Covid symptoms - Reduced sore joints and less aching - Improved sleep, and waking up easier - Improved skin appearance - Improved eyesight (This was incredible to me, my vision became much clearer and sharper, colours looked brighter, and I could see further!) - Reduced mental fatigue and physical fatigue - More energy - More calmness - Reduced anxiousness and low mood - Improved focus and cognitive function (it actually helped me with my ADHD symptoms; just after only a few sessions, I could finally read a page of a book very easily, and my mind felt much "clearer"). Initially, I wanted to help heal my Long COVID, which unfortunately I had had since January 2025. Since having Long COVID, I would wake up with sore joints and pains, feel mental and physical fatigue, and my body would just be constantly aching. I looked into Red Light Therapy, and found that a state-of-the-art machine called 'NovoTHOR', could help heal Long COVID significantly over time. I contacted Active Care Chiropractic, since they have one of the NovoTHOR machines, and immediately found them to be incredibly friendly and helpful. I already had a good feeling about their service from their website, but my conversation with them on the phone confirmed my intuition that they were incredibly professional and keen to help. They offered me a completely free first session to use the NovoTHOR bed, which I found to be generous and accommodating. After feeling some positive effects after my first session (feeling more relaxed and experiencing a good night's sleep immediately), I decided to go through with the 12-session package. I can confidently say that for every session that I had in the NovoTHOR at Active Care Chiropractic, I was extremely satisfied. Now that my 12-session package has finished, I feel a lot better, physically and mentally. Red Light Therapy helped in speeding up my recovery from Long Covid and countless other things, too. My 16-year-old son, who has Autism and a severe receptive language disorder, has had amazing results after just 12 sessions of Novothor therapy. Fantastic experience: I saw Tristan at Active Care after 3 weeks of worsening back pain at night. The assessment was thorough and everything was very clearly explained. He gave me excellent advice for an issue aggravated by my desk job, as well as several follow up appointments to support my recovery and I'm happy to say the issue is now resolved. Fantastic experience: I can't speak highly enough of these guys. All of the five star reviews do most of the talking so, if I could say anything else to anybody at a bit of a loss with a nasty / niggling back pain, or feeling unable to wait weeks for an initial NHS physio, it would be to at least give them a go. I went in sceptical - but they were reassuring, clear, and patient, with me. Very quickly I had both the feelings of (not just) steady physical improvement but also the mental improvement from the peace of mind that there was a "plan" that was working. I'll always be grateful for Harry and the teams support.

Fantastic experience: I went to Active Care Chiropractic in June 2025 with significant neck and shoulder pains from cycling. I was doing a challenging stage of the Tour de France 4 weeks later for charity and needed to get sorted. I wasn’t expecting miracles but what Phil was able to do to in a relatively short period of time to ease these pains and loosen my posture was remarkable. I was able to complete L’Etape, 80+ miles with 14,000ft of climbing. This would not have been possible without Phil’s expert help - chapeau!

Fantastic experience: My son had progressive back pain over a 4 year period. Following numerous visits to the doctor and referrals to the physiotherapist with no joy we were in a situation where he couldn’t play sport, was taking pain killers regularly and having to lay on the floor just to ease the pain. I started researching chiropractors and found the excellent reviews for Active Care Chiropractic. I called and the information given by the receptionist was amazing. Despite us living 50 minutes away we booked in for a consultation with Harry. Whilst my son had his consultation I tried the infrared bed which was a real treat! When he finished his consultation we went for a walk before our car journey home. His first words to me was “That was the best experience of my life. Not only did Harry tell me what was wrong with my back, he was able to tell me how I slept, how I sat at my desk at work, how I sat in my car all by the muscles in my back. He is a god” It transpired my son had functional scoliosis from a previous knee injury and prolonged use of crutches. 4 months on my son is pain free and only visiting Harry once a month for check ups. He is playing all sports and not taking any painkillers. If you are in any doubt of booking with Active Care Chiropractic just do it. Their whole team is amazing - especially Harry.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at Active Care Chiropractors for about 9 months. During that time I have received several sessions of Red Light Therapy on their Novothor unit which has had many positive outcomes. To book a block of 12 is very cost effective and ensures retention and concentration of the therapy. Also of valuable note are the sessions undergone with Dr. Tristan, who is thorough, kind, understanding and his treatment has had a positive impact on my problem. The welcoming reception staff are wonderful and engaging. For what more could a patient ask. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Fantastic experience: I was recommended to Harry after I started with lower back pain. Not unbearable but a constant and annoying pain. I was given treatment plan and given some exercises and stretches to do at home. Not only as a cure but a long term prevention plan. Amazingly I have not had any pain at all for 3 months. I do my 20-30mins stretches daily and I feel better than I have for years. It’s a truly honest and skilled practice that works hard for you. I would recommend Harry to anyone. Fantastic experience: My experience of Active Care Chiropractic in York was nothing short of perfection. From the friendly, kind and caring front end Brenda, amongst others, to Dr Tristan Prince (I hear Phil is equally brilliant!), who displayed compassion, empathy, patience, outstanding and effective care and advice, I would recommend this wonderful team without reservation... they must be good... I travelled a 3 hour round trip just to be a patient of this amazing team! My ailment was a 6 year battle with chronic ischia bursitis and gluteal tendonopathy... these guys really know their anatomy and physiology and can nail your pain in record time.

Fantastic experience: I have fibromyalgia and had read reports of red light therapy helping with the pain. These red light centres are scarce at the moment, then I came across Active Care Chiropractic in York. Revelation! I disliked the 2 hour journey needed to get there but I loved arriving and meeting the friendly, efficient staff who work there. I came to feel like I was visiting family so easy was the atmosphere. A cup of tea, a biscuit and then on to the redlight bed for 20 minutes for 8 weeks has undoubtedly eased some of my pain and stiffness. I heartily recommend this practice for anyone needing help. Fantastic experience: I have been in agony with my shoulder for about 4 months to the point that it was effecting my, sleep , my happiness and overall mental health. After 2 visits the pain has completely gone. Dr Harry is absolutely amazing at his job, he listens carefully, knows 100% completely what he is talking about and it is completely obvious that he is very passionate about his field of work. Fantastic experience: Having been battling with a painful knee for months, and being effectively fobbed-off by my GP, I booked a session with Harry. My expectations were not high, but I was proven very wrong! After a very thorough examination, Harry embarked on a series of manipulations. The relief was instantaneous! Afterwards, a session of photobiomodulation (PBM) using their NovoTHOR machine left me feeling invigorated! The whole experience was fantastic and I'm very much looking forward to the next session. Fantastic experience: Reception staff always lovely. I've been treated by, and recommend, Harry. I have a disorder that affects my tendons, so it's expected that things will take a long time to recover, but Harry has always been very encouraging which helps me to stay positive. He knows his stuff (seriously - I've had various osteopaths and chiropractors over the years and he KNOWS his stuff). He always listens to what I need, while explaining anything necessary. Fantastic experience: Having had a slipped disc and rang my Doctors at a well know York practice i was sent a text at 3pm saying i was critical but they had reached their limit for the day. I was recommended by a friend to contact Active care. They got me in the following day and nearly having to be carried in i saw Harry and after some treatment i walked out albeit still in pain but walked up and down the street. After a few more visits i was able to go back to work part time and am still having treatment as a slipped disc is not an instant fix. They are a friendly team especially Harry who has worked wonders on my back and is now moving on to my legs.

Fantastic experience: I can highly recommend all the staff at Active Care - I have been a client for approx 10 years. They have treated a back issue caused by a faulty car seat quickly and painlessly. My husband has been treated for tennis elbow (after unsuccessful treatment elsewhere) and is now fully recovered, he also was successfully treated for a back issue after a skiing accident. My Mum had vertigo and the doctors couldn't help - ActiveCare cured her problem and she was able to drive again. My Dad has had a painful leg and poor sleep and is now fully recovered (hes 86). The biggest gain was my Daughter (23) has been treated after various horse riding accidents. During her A levels she suffered from intense headaches and attributed this to the pressure of exams - Phil identified that an old riding injury needed treating and the headaches disappeared. Fantastic experience: I highly highly recommend Phil! Whenever someone mentions any kind of back or knee pain, Active Care is the first and only place that comes to mind. I first saw Phil about 4-5 years ago when i was in excruciating back pain and after a few sessions he helped to heal the pain. Now i only need to see him every 6 months or so. All the staff are so kind and welcoming, I have NOTHING bad to say about Active Care.

Fantastic experience: I just want to start by saying thank you, since I was 15 I’ve always struggled with my lower back. If I was laid or sat down for a period of time It was so uncomfortable. I would always be woken up by the pain and now I am getting a full nights sleep! That in itself is a miracle! Fantastic experience: Phil is great, really knowledgeable and knows just which parts to press to make you better. Been going for 2 years on and off now. 1st time I went I was a mess and on 4 different painkillers for a trapped nerve that made me want to cut my arm off it hurt so much! It wasn't quick but little by little Phil fixed me. Recently been back due to muscular knots trapping another nerve causing pins and needles and within 3 sessions I feel amazing again. I recommend Active Care over medication and surgery - something I want to avoid having been through it for a trapped ulnar nerve before - ,wish I'd known about graston technique back in 2006!

I took my 16 year old daughter for lower back pain and couldn't be more impressed with the whole process from initial contact to aftercare. I was able to get a next day appointment with Phil, who explained everything very thoroughly to us before and during treatment. I was particularly impressed by his instruction for aftercare and how/when to make another appointment. My daughter walked out in much less pain and had enjoyed the experience! A quick Google search found Active Care and I gave them a ring. No appointments available but, no problem, Vicky on reception took my details and rang me back 10 mins later after checking with Phil the Chiropractor; Phil would fit me in between appointments... Fantastic experience: Excellent friendly staff. It was my first time going. I have fibromyalgia and my muscles get very knotted in my back, neck and shoulders. A deep thorough massage was great. Very relaxing atmosphere too. Will definitely return!
