Balmoral Spine Clinic - Belfast Chiropractor

Fantastic experience: Went to Balmoral Spine Clinic after I tweaked my back. First consultation was great and X-Rays really put my mind at ease. Have been going now for the last 5 weeks and it's been absolutely fantastic. Not just my back but my neck too as Jonny identified a lot of tightness around there. Would highly recommend these guys, as booking and rescheduling isn't a problem either as they are very accommodating. Keep up the good work you guys!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been seeing Dr Rice in Balmoral Spine Clinic for several months now for TMJ and vertigo& the results have been incredible. My vertigo has improved dramatically and the pain in my jaw has eased a lot. Dr Rice is very knowledgeable he takes the time to explain everything clearly which makes each session smooth& reassuring. I honestly cannot fault him& his team at all& would highly recommend him to anyone seeking professional care!

Fantastic experience: Finding Balmoral Spine Clinic has been life changing for me. I have had about 20 years of chronic hip and lower back pain, with episodes of acute pain where I couldn’t move without severe pain. Every physiotherapist, personal trainer and doctor I saw over the years told me there was basically nothing wrong with me. My concerns and questions about why I felt so unbalanced and twisted were always dismissed and exercise and stretching always made things worse. Of late even swimming was causing pain, so I decided to look for a chiropractor who knew something about the particular issue I was struggling with. Dr Rice’s blog came up in the search. On the initial consultation he really listened to me, took my questions seriously and did an initial physical evaluation. He then took x-rays. I was so relieved when he explained from the x rays the problem I had and how it was having a knock on effect on my whole body. His diagnosis explained all the strange pains and postural issues - these were my compensations for the structural problem. Dr Rice encouraged me to see a podiatrist who could help with an insole/heel lift. I found a podiatrist recommended independently by a friend as being experienced in diagnosing this particular problem. Her evaluation confirmed Dr Rice’s opinion. I followed the podiatrist’s guidance in conjunction with a six week block of adjustments. I immediately felt relief in the side which had given me issues for years. With moderate activity and ice, I have been able to keep mobile as my body responds to the adjustments. Dr Rice was very realistic that the healing will take some time, but that’s what I would expect with such a long standing, systemic problem. Dr Rice is always professional and explains everything so well. I already feel significantly better and am very hopeful that finally the root cause of my pain and postural problems is being addressed. His receptionist is always very helpful and pleasant. My only regret is not coming to Balmoral Spine clinic years ago.

Fantastic experience: I first attended Dr Rice April 2025 for severe lower back. By physically examination and Xrays Dr Rice clearly diagnoised the cause. During initial short interval sessions I got increasing pain relief and much reduced occurance. I now attend monthly as maintenance. I highly recommend Dr Rice and Rebecca are a great team. Note - Iam not aware of many other Chiropractices close to greater Belfast which provide in-house Xraying.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Dr Rice over the past few years and he’s done a great job managing multiple niggles and issues. Rebecca always super helpful organising appointments and flexible when I need to rearrange. They have managed the whole process with Bupa on a number of occasions, making it really easy for me. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: I went to Mr Rice on 20 March 2024 as was having some vision issues. He offer 10 treatments for 600 pounds and discount 480 of booked in advance. That day he adjusted my neck and back. Following that had swallowing issues my jaw and knees started to click. After notifying him and cancelling all future booking he offered free follow up during which told me go to A&E... I still have those symptoms to this and they are worse... I regret going to chiropractor and not reading the waiver carefully. Disclaimer its my personal opinion and experience.

Fantastic experience: 100% recommend! I've had worsening sciatica for approx 5 years. Tried physio,spinal injections, traditional chiropractic methods all whilst being prescribed a lot of different medication including Gabapentin and Butec patches. Nothing could give me any relief from the pain. Jonny suggested IDD therapy, I was willing to try anything my pain was so bad. IDD treatment has been the only thing that has provided me with any relief.I can now sit,stand and walk for short periods after being bedbound Anyone suffering from sciatica I would highly recommend IDD therapy.However, please be aware this not a one off treatment, it does take several sessions but stick with it, in my experience it was well worth it Thanks to Jonny & Rebecca for your professionalism and friendly service 5*

Fantastic experience: My lower back totally gave way following my second pregnancy. I had never had this type of treatment before and was totally petrified. Johnny is personable and professional. He did x-rays and explained in detail what the problem was and how he could help. He was in no rush and was patient to answer any question I had. Although the treatment is expensive, he was also open to discuss a pay plan that suited me. After my first appointment, I could not believe that I could stand and walk almost completely normally. Any discomfort felt after was managed with ice only. After a few treatments, I was back to myself. I could not believe it. As I have a long-term issue, I have attended the clinic regularly now for two years to keep things in check. Treatments are pain-free and I actually look forward to them because the team at Balmoral are so welcoming and professional. The receptionist, Rebecca, can also not do enough for you. Many times I have needed to change an appointment for work - or once or twice have had a bad back, and she has never let me down in finding a last minute appointment that suits. I recommend Balmoral Spine Clinic to many. Don't hesitate, give this place a call, you won't regret it!

Negative experience: Waste of time and money! Sessions are 10 minutes max and only provide temporary relief at best! If you have joint issues go to physiotherapy instead of wasting your money and time on pseudoscience like this.

Fantastic experience: I first came to the clinic a few years ago with a very sore neck problem which had an impact on my general well being. Jonathan took xrays and explained my problem and why this was happening to me. It was such a relief that someone took the time to explain, and not to be handed pain killers. Over a range of appointments I began to feel so flexible and I was definitely not suffering the bad pain that I had become used to in the past. Jonathan answered all my questions and nothing was to much bother to him. He gets to the source of the problem. Fantastic experience: Excellent service here, I was new to chiropractic and I held off in seeking this kind of treatment for a long time due to fear of the unknown. Johnny explained my x-ray results and the course of action he would take very well at my initial assessment. I've been attending regular appointments and it's made a huge improvement in my chronic pain. I find it much more effective than other methods I've tried like medication or deep tissue massage. It has given me a better foundation for doing physiotherapy exercises more effectively.

Fantastic experience: Went to the Clinic because I had suffered lower back pain for several months. An initial consulation and Xrays revealed the cause. After six treatments that problem is well on its way to being resolved. Pain almost gone and the future looks much brighter. Didn't think it could be done but Jonathan proved me wrong! Fantastic experience: Visited as a last resort after 3 years of chronic shoulder pain that was unable to be diagnosed or treated through multiple avenues within the NHS. Dr Rice was able to identify what the issue was through an X-ray and treat accordingly and I am now completely pain free! I still visit every 8 weeks for an adjustment and would highly recommend.

I had an excellent experience from start to finish with Balmoral Spine Clinic, from booking the appointment, reminders and follow ups. Dr Rice was incredibly detailed, carried out Xrays, talked me through the Xrays in great length and detailed exactly the issue. I then recieved treatment and work on my back. I found the experience very professional, relaxed and informative. Well worth the drive!

Fantastic experience: I had been living with lower back pain for a few years. It would flare up after some heavy lifting but recently it seized up by itself. My GP sent me to X-ray and physio but it made no difference. Dr Rice used his own X-ray and pointed out the problem. In a few short months of treatment I felt so much better. I could move and lift again without the fear of it seizing up again. I recommend this clinic without hesitation.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience here. Attended with constant shoulder/back pain that had no obvious cause. After an x-ray Dr Rice was able to explain the cause of the pain and set out a treatment plan. In just a few appointments the benefits of the treatment were obvious, the pain had lessened hugely and it continues to improve. Negative experience: £50 for a 20 minute consultation and no adjustment. I would recommend anyone needing a chiropractor to go elsewhere!! You have to pay extra for your adjustment!! There are many many other chiropractors that are reasonable with their prices and don’t rip people off in such a way as Dr Rice!!

Fantastic experience: I found Balmoral Spine Clinic online when I had run out of options for constant headaches and neck pain. On arrival I explain to Dr Rice what the issues were and he was able to do X rays and show me where my issues were coming from and how he could help. It made a lot of sense and shocked me at how out of shape my spine had become at such a young age. I am now half way through my adjustments and within a few weeks I was able to notice a massive difference in movement and pain. I would encourage anyone to visit Dr Rice and his team at Balmoral spin clinic, you will not be disappointed and will be welcomed every time.

Fantastic experience: I initially took up the facebook offer as I was experiencing seriously bad posture problems for the past few years and it was restricting the movement of my neck! Initially I was a little skeptical, but After only a couple of treatments I could feel the massive difference it was having on my health and no more headaches either. Honestly can not recommend the healing hands of these guys enough and believe me when I say best investment I have ever made. Fantastic company, lovely staff and best treatment I have ever experienced.

Negative experience: Misdiagnosed and misled, spend over £1000 on treatment over the course of approx 9 months. Was given orthodics and a heel lift as apparently 1 leg was shorter than the other. The side i wore the lift in is now hitched up compared to the other side, if there was a difference in leg length i would be level. Very annoyed by the amount of money i spent in good faith trying to look after my health and well being. If you're suffering with back pain, learn from my mistakes and go to a physio rather than a Chiropractor, a practice with little real scientific evidence behind it.

I first went to Dr Rice about 2 years ago In real bad shape, constant pain, sore heads, dizzy spells, heartburn, pins and needles just felt terrible all the time and almost instantly after my first treatment my symptoms started to ease it was amazing! i have never felt better after suffering for over 15yrs, I go for a monthly adjustment which keeps me pain and medication free.. cant reccomend Dr Rice enough.

Fantastic experience: I had back issues for a long time and I had previous sessions with different chiropractors before to meet Dr. Rice. He is very professional and aware about the wellbeing of the whole person and how a back issue can impact your daily life. I had a first assessment and an x-ray, he has been very patient and explained me what was the nature of my problem, then we agreed about the first stage of the treatment. He gave me a lot of advices an he followed me through the whole process. We had a second assessment and I saw through x-rays how my back is really improved. Now I am on the second stage of the program, and he is taking care of everything. I have finally found the professionist that I was looking for and I recommend his clinic to every person that has back, neck or other spine problems. I can only thank him and all his staff for the patience and the kindness that they had with me.

Negative experience: I am very disappointed with my experience with this clinic. I have been suffering with lower back pain for quite a while. I went to see Dr Rice given his good reviews, hoping he can help. He did an x-ray and diagnosed the problem. I was told I need to be treated for 6 weeks in order for this to improve. He seemed confident that this would help so I decided to go for it. I paid £390 up front because it was much cheaper than paying per visit. I was scheduled with 2 visits per week. Each visit took between 5 to 7 minutes. During some of the sessions I mentioned that I was not feeling any improvement hoping that the treatment can be adapted accordingly. However, Dr Rice performed mainly the same routine each time with a very small change during one of the visits. After 6 weeks I wasn’t feeling any better. During my last visit Dr Rice did another x-ray, which confirmed that the treatment didn’t work. He told me that there is nothing more he can do for me and he advised me to see a podiatrist and get a heel insole. I could not believe that after spending all this money this is all I'm getting. I was simply sent home! I wouldn’t recommend this place and I would definitely not recommend paying up front. Very very disappointed.

I was somewhat skeptical of chiropractic treatment especially given that my condition with my spine, other doctors consider it nonspecific. I exhausted all other avenus and left this to the last. This treatment is brilliant for easing back pain and reducing flareups I can't tell you enough how how much this Doctor is one of a kind. Fantastic experience: I've had problems with my back in the past, even had trips to the hospital. Had x-rays at the start of my treatment to show me exactly what was wrong. Also found out that my spine was out aswel. Two months in and my back feels much better than it did. Fantastic experience: I have had back problems for 15 years approximately. Since commencing treatment with Dr. Rice, l have found him to be very professional but more importantly, he has provided me with effective treatments. My back issues are greatly improved and after 8 sessions l feel considerably more comfortable and confident in carrying out every day tasks. Fantastic experience: Hey guys. I've suffered from a shoulder and neck pain with severe pain at times. I've had many visits to doctors and A&E Jonny did a few xrays and I've a soldiers neck and you don't need to be a soldier to get it lol .3 years later I've finally got relief. Fantastic experience: Prior to my treatment at Balmoral Spine Clinic I was in total despair with shoulder and back pain, which controlled every aspect of my daily living activities. I was experiencing extreme neuropathic pain and had tried physiotherapy, massage, reflexology and pharmacological agents which offered no relief. After my initial consultation, Jonathan offered an individualised and comprehensive assessment outlining the root cause of my pain, designed a tailored treatment programme which has proven to enable me to return to normal function again. I am truly grateful as his treatment has totally realigned my spine (after 20 years nursing) enabling me to sleep and get my life back (literally!) Rebecca co-ordinates everything with a very friendly approach (and always with a smile)!

Having visited 2 other clinics in England with little success in terms of a diagnosis, Dr Rice was able to diagnose the 3 main issues I was having with my back and hip, and gave me an extremely detailed rehabilitation plan. Utilising this plan, has enabled me to get back playing sport.

Fantastic experience: Feeling so much better after treatments with Johnny. Less restricted movement, less pain, very good treatment. Always greeted with a warm welcome and friendly chats while waiting and during treatment! Love the fact there are email reminders 24 hours before an appointment, being so busy at times, I tend to forget about when I'm due back.

Negative experience: I went to see Johnny about issues with my neck and jaw. I advised him I had been injured in a road traffic accident with whiplash and to go easy as I was still sensitive after it. He took an x-ray and advised on that and payment plans and packages he provided. Before treatment I told him not to crack my neck and he didn't so I was annoyed when he sat me upright on the bench and without any warning, on the back of the neck 3 to 4 times, used a hand-held Activator instrument which sent my anxiety through the roof. Johnny is obviously a very experienced Chiropractor and knows what he is doing but he should of let me know he was going to use an Activator.

Fantastic experience: I have been suffering with back pain for years and due to my young age I was always told it wasn't as sore as I was making it out to be. As soon as I got in the door I was immediately put at ease by Rebecca and filled in my paperwork. The consultation with Jonny was thorough and he answered all my questions and not once did I feel like I was exaggerating. He then explained my x-rays to me and showed me why I was in so much pain. I feel such a massive difference in my pain levels already and I still have some time left before my review to see my progress. Could not be happier with the entire experience so far and would not hesitate to recommend Balmoral Spine Clinic.

Negative experience: Consider this as a friendly note - you might wanna train your receptionist in customer service. Your clinic has been recommended to me, but your receptionist (during our telephone conversation) put me off to such degree that I'm looking elsewhere. Sorry.
