RE:PLAY Physio + Performance

Negative experience: Verdict: Gatekeepers, not therapists. **It is said there are no stupid quæstions. The staff at Re:Play prove otherwise – and they are well trained to ask them.** I'm a homeless man without addictions, seeking physiotherapy to recover from many months of physical wasting and associated damage. I travel on foot, despite mobility issues, and I haul a sizable trolley /✝️ which contains my personal belongings and survival gear. Every journey is a sacrifice. I'm at the end of my tether and I feel as though I don't have more than 10 years of life left. Ireland has given me a taste of the 19th century in the 21st century. Statistics show that homelessness exacts a greater toll on the human body than concentration camps and gulags. I was passing by Re:Play Physio on my way to another clinic. I decided to harvest this serendipitous opportunity and explore whether this venue might suit me better. I wanted nothing more than to look inside, briefly explain my background, and discuss whether this place might be better for me. Alas I encountered multiple obstructions stacked one atop another: 1. The front door was blocked by a parked car . A notice guided visitors to the rear door anyway, because the front door was narrow with an accessibility hurdle – a raised doorstep. The rear door was perfect: flat kerb ♿ and two wings. Except that door was also blocked by a car ! For no good reason other than sheer vanity – for the whole carpark was empty. 2. I rang the buzzer. Somebody unlocked remotely, which was of little help. My access was blocked by the car. Rinse, repeat. 3. On fourth call, young lady emerged and asked braindead quæstions. I pointed down to the flat kerb and explained its purpose ♿ like to a child. She struggled to comprehend why it would be a problem. Subsequently: "Why do you want to enter?" Imagine keeping a store open and asking every customer "Why do you want to enter?" instead of letting them in. Only in Soviet Russia or Northern Ireland! I explained I was passing and wanted to inform myself about their commerce. She asked if I'd booked an appointment . I explained: "Can't book an appointment for something one knows nothing about! Only after we chat may I book." She insisted I call first. Like it is easier to talk on the phone than face-to-face! 4. An anonymous gentleman demanded I leave her alone – she's very busy. He departed without explaining his role. 5. A minute later, another man entered the blocking car and swiftly departed. Access ♿ restored! 6. I rang the buzzer again. "The line is busy." Rinse, repeat. 7. I gave up and left, but returned to photograph the blocked front door. 8. A third gentleman emerged, apparently to check whether I was still at the back door. On his way back to the front door, enquired "if I was okay". I recounted the insane prædicament to him. He advised me to check their website or come back tomorrow . As if a website reads minds, or I fly around Northern Ireland in a helicopter! I said I had quæstions better suited for face-to-face chat and wouldn't be here tomorrow. "Okay." As if this solved my problem! I said "insanity" and asked if he'd read Kafka. "No, I didn't." Then he vanished. 9. Now I have wasted my entire night writing this review – composing what a fifteen-minute walk-in conversation could have resolved. However hopeless and ineffective, writing is the only antidote to lethal stupidity lurking at every doorstep of Northern Ireland. 10. After finished writing, I discovered this form limits to 4096 characters, so I couldn't post it until I rewrote it. Now standing at 3639 characters.

Fantastic experience: Declan at RE:PLAY was absolutely great, very professional and knowledgeable. Also a really decent guy! Completely sorted my lower back pain out. I'm just sorry I delayed seeking help for a number of months hoping it would pass, I'll not make that mistake again. I've no hesitation in highly recommending Declan/RE:PLAY!

Fantastic experience: Today was my 2nd session after ATFL/CFL surgery. Naomi has been amazing! She listens, asks right questions, provides clear communication. Most importantly she cares. I had swelling on our first session and she did massage my ankle to decrease the swelling. On our 2nd session, my calf was tight and she massaged my calf. After every session with Naomi, I leave this place better with clear homeworks to do. She has been adapting my homework based on my progress and situation. I can't praise her enough! I can't thank her enough ☺️

Fantastic experience: I've seen both Simon and Roisin over the last few months with a knee injury and found them both exceptionally thorough and helpful. Facilities are great, so they were able to take me through rehab exercises in their own gym. I made strong progress very quickly, certainly much faster and better than I would have done without their help. Can't recommend highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Roisin is amazing! She is very thorough, ensuring she understood the problems I was having. The biggest difference I found was the breadth of rehab exercises provided, not just to reduce pain but to increase strength and overall performance and the ability to try these out and adjust form in the onsite gym facilities.

Fantastic experience: I was under the care of Simon at RE:PLAY from April 2024 with ligament damage and arthritis in my right knee until being discharged a few weeks ago. Over that period, I needed just 8 appointments. At the start, I was practically immobile due to pain and swelling on my right knee. Thanks to Simon’s treatment, professional advice and expertise and the exercise program he gave me, I am now able to walk, manage the stairs and the swelling is well reduced and my pain is more easily managed. Fantastic experience: Our daughter attended Replay with help on a calf injury last year. She plays camogie and ladies gaelic football at underage level. The care, treatment and advice she received was absolutely incredible and got her back playing competitively in time for championship. Replay were also excellent at managing her expectations and giving her sensible advice on building her activity levels back up reasonably and safely after injury.

Fantastic experience: Highly highly recommend Re:Play! I initially was seeking for a physio to help with back pain and spasms that were affecting not only my training but started to affect day to day life too. During the initial session, Simon has taken the time to understand my training and back pain history and he has quickly found the underlying cause behind my pain and discomfort rather than just treating the symptoms. I have noticed significant improvements after a few sessions. Following regular treatment alongside progressive exercises targeted to fix the underlying imbalances, I have been completely pain free and back in training with no reoccurring back pain. Simon has been nothing but excellent, made me feel at ease and his knowledge is second to none - I could genuinely not recommend him more!

Fantastic experience: An excellent Physio and highly recommend Ronan for any issue. I have been to Ronan on two separate occasion’s due to football related injuries. The time he invests to understand the issue and create a progressive plan to become pain free is second to none. Also, RE:PLAY is a very good facility and has a wide range of equipment that helps getting back to full fitness.

Fantastic experience: I really can't speak highly enough of Ronan as a physio and performance sport specialist. I've competed internationally in athletics and haven't come across anyone with the same level of skill, understanding and consideration.

Negative experience: Arrived early at the premises at 9.15am to get parked. Couldn't see where to park, as no obvious signage, so parked in a no parking area and got out and buzzed the door. No response (understandable if the physio is busy with a client) so phoned reception and they said someone would call me back to let me know where to park. At 9.30am (appt time), I rang again and had the same discussion with a different person. At 9.40am, feeling I was unlikely to receive a call anytime soon, I left. Physio rang at 9.45am to apologise and tell me the parking was round the back. Clearly there was no way I could have known this. I declined the offer to make another appt. I accept there was no in-house receptionist today and the business has just moved there but a simple line in the booking email to say 'parking is at the back of building, take any available space' would have prevented a frustrating experience and the waste of 80mins of my time. Its a real shameas I need a good physio and the reviews are first class.

Chris was very helpful and due to the nature and longevity of the issue he has directed me to see a specialist as he does not think further physio will benefit me and I will need to take it to the next level of treatment. Fantastic experience: Back in 2020, Simon diagnosed and treated me for a bulging disc in my back which was painful and stopped me from playing sports. Since then, Gavin’s been working with me on a rugby specific training programme which has massively increased my strength and fitness. Felt a bit silly initially as I wasn't sure if my issue was severe enough or if I was a 'serious enough athlete' but Mark put me at ease immediately. Not only did he give me exercises and advice to help fix the problem, he explained why the problem occurred in the first place and how to avoid anything similar in future. Fantastic experience: I went to see Ronan on 2 separate occasions with 2 different issues. One of the best physio’s I’ve seen. My job is physically demanding as I work in theatre and being on a touring show it’s rare you get a good physio. Ronan tried his best to explain everything to me atomically and gave me lots of exercises and advice to help. If I’m in the area again I would 100% go again.

I couldn’t even walk for five minutes without pain. Simon knew within the first consultation that it was a tendon injury due to weakness and gave me a programme to gradually build the strength back up. It took a while to fully recover but following Simons exercise and treatment regime I no longer have hip pain and am fully mobile again. So grateful for the excellent knowledge and advice. Fantastic experience: I didn't think physio would necessarily help with my concern, nor to the extent that it did. Hannah expertly analysed the situation and got to work with immediate effects. I particularly liked how she explained what she was doing and why. It definitively helped my trust and confidence in what was going on. Hannah creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. With injuries one can lose confidence and self-esteem. Hanna is very supportive and encouraging. This doubly helped with my recovery and self-belief. She is relatable and just an all round nice-person. Hopefully I won't need to, but if I do, I would return to Hannah. I would 100% recommend her to anyone needing physio treatment.

Fantastic experience: Simon is the best physio I have seen and I have been to quite a few over the years. You get elite level treatment from someone who has worked at the highest level. This type of service would normally only be accessible by professional athletes.

Fantastic experience: I would like to extend my thanks to Ronan, who very carefully examined me and diagnosed a tear on my left rotator cuff and prescribed exercises that I should carry out. After 4 weeks of this, as painful as it was in the beginning, I am now able to put a shirt on without yelping in pain! Fantastic experience: I have been to Simon a number of times over the last number of years with some self-limiting injuries all of which have gone following superb treatment and rehabilitation programmes. I was back with Simon recently as I felt something felt strange when running and was starting to feel recurrence of an old injury and with a hectic 12 months of training ahead wanted to understand what was going on. He identified a compromised running form, originating from weakness in my glute med that was leading to the surrounding muscles compensating for the weakness and leading to increased likelihood of a more significant injury. Simons ability to identify an issue, causation and set about a planned preventative programme of rehab and training has saved me time, frustration, injury and money!! Can't recommend Simon highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Best thing I've done when it comes to my general health and wellbeing is take a trip to Simon Harland. After months of struggling with a shoulder injury due to weight lifting I bit the bullet and went to Replay clinic. I have only been once so far but straight away he's accurately pinpointed the issue and was able to address some of the pain and increase range of motion I was impressed at how simple he's made it all seem. Looking forwarding to getting back for the rest of the treatment. once finished with this treatment I'll be getting a full movement screen to try reduce the possibility of these things happening again. Fantastic experience: I was particularly impressed by Simon Harland for a number of reasons. Firstly, I have never had such a thorough assessment before treatment. Secondly, Simon quickly concluded that I needed referral to an orthopaedic consultant, and rather than drag out treatment, suggested that I follow up on this before further physio treatment. And finally, having consulted a number of Doctors, Simon was clearly held in high regard. So in summary, thoroughness, in depth knowledge and experience, and above all, integrity and honesty.

Simon quickly got to the bottom of my problem and his treatment and prescribed exercises have ensured that I can get back to full training and enjoy my sport again. Fantastic experience: I have suffered for the last 2 years with a reoccurring knee problem. Went and had a MRI and took advice from one of northern Ireland's top knee surgeons. " Paul your lucky, we will be able to sort this with the help of a good Physio. I recommend that you get yourself down to Simon in the replay clinic " 6 weeks later and I am back running, cycling and sleeping with only an inkling of the previous pain. Don't mess about, get yourself booked in today, put in the work on the exercises that Simon gives you and in no time at all you will be on the road to fitness.

It had been going on for quite a while but I didn't do anything about it because I thought that was how my body worked and just took pain killers to manage it. When I had increasingly restricted movement and could no longer participate in strength training I knew it was time to seek help. Simon was very professional and addressed all of my pain areas and made it clear that no one should experience pain whilst training or indeed in every day life- my back feels like new, so delighted with the results. He is continuing to help me with movements that will strengthen weak muscles, improve flexibility and prevent injury in the future. This is an excellent service that I would highly recommend to anyone in need of physio treatment, weather you are an athlete or not.
